そこにも記したが、この本は数学における Platonism and Realism(Godel, Maddy), Logicism(Frege, Russell, Neo-Fregean), Formalism(Hilbert), Constructivism(Dummett), Structuralism(Hellman, Resnik, Shapiro), Empiricism(Mill), Psychologism(Husserl), Fictionalism(H. Field), Meinongian philosophy of mathematics, and Lakatos's philosophy of mathematics を解説してくれている。
どれも手短な記述ではあるが、一部を試しに読むと、わかりやすくかつ平易な英語で読みやすい。この本に対しては、S. ShapiroさんやG. Priestさんが下読みされている。Wittgenstein's philosophy of mathematicsも、この本に盛り込みたかったようであるが、著者はそちらの方は専門でなく、またWittgenstein's philosophy of mathematicsには、色々と隔たりのある解釈があるようで、公平な記述を見込めなかったので、やむを得ず省いたとのことである。しかしそれでも勉強になる本のようだ。

しかし本当はCarnapを調べている場合ではない。
