何気なく以下の本を眺めてみた。

Russell さんの著書や論文、講演などの文献情報を大変詳しく掲載している 3 巻本の第 1 巻です。Russell 研究者の must なのかもしれません。
で、興に乗じて The Principles of Mathematics, Principia Mathematica, Intorduction to Mathematical Philosophy がそれぞれ何部ずつ刷られているのか調べてみました。暇ですみません。以下にそれを表にします。*1

私個人の印象では、Principia の数字が、なかなか強気だと感じます。2005年7月3日の日記にも記したのですが、Principia 1st ed. vol. 1 が 750部刷られているのは今の出版不況からするとなかなかがんばっている数字に思えます。Vol. 2, 3 の 500 という数もちょっと多い気がします。数式・論理式だらけの本の内容から言って、市場と学界の評価が定まる前の状況の私なら vol. 1 は 350, vol. 2, 3 はどちらも 200 というところがせいぜいだろうと何となく判断すると思います。2nd の 1,000 というのは、1st がそれなりに評価されたと感じたからでしょうか。これに対し、Introduction ... の 1,430 というのは、本の内容が幾分 popular なものであるにもかかわらず、少ないと思います。
という訳で、以上で何か教訓が得られるかというと、そういうことでもないのでしょうが、まぁそういうことです…。
