Back cover の blurb を見ると、本書のことを van Inwagen 先生が短い言葉で熱く語っておられる。「ついに出た！(At last!)」って書かれています。次回の大学院の自分の seminar で本書を主な文献として使うつもりだと述べておられます。私は本書を入手したばかりで、まだよく読んでいませんが、そんなにすごいのか？ ちょっと私にはまだわかりませんが…。

梗概を記しておきます。
Abstract
Discussions of the relation between pragmatism and logical empiricism tend to focus on the period when the logical empiricists found themselves in exile, mostly in the United States, and then attempt to gauge the actual extent of their convergence. My concern lies with the period before that and the question whether pragmatism had an earlier influence on the development of logical empiricism, especially on the thought of the former members of the ''first'' Vienna Circle. I argue for a substantially qualified affirmative answer.
The Vienna Circle の人々が the USA などに渡ってから Pragmatism にどの程度影響を受けたのかではなく、渡る前に影響を受けていたのかについて、Uebel 先生は検討されているようですね。渡航前の影響はあったのか否かに対し、先生の回答は「おおむね条件付きで 'Yes'」という感じでしょうか？

内容を記しておきます。
これ以外に学会の活動報告と、学会の研究大会のプログラムがこの雑誌には載っています。上記の3本の文献はどれもとても面白そうです。高取先生の論文は何だかとても難しそうですが、すごく興味深いです。(本日の日記の一番最初に記した、最近の購入図書 Ontology and Metaontology と、もちろん関係が深いです。) 黒川先生の書評は、書評対象の単なる紹介をはるかに超えています。野本先生のご高著に対し、多数の批判的論点を提出して検討されておられます。熟読玩味に値する書評だと感じます。上記の三つの文献は今すぐ全部読んでしまいたいですが、しばらくしたら少しだけ時間ができる予定がありますので、今読むのはお預けにして、その際に読んでみようかと思います。その時確かに時間ができたらですが…。
