調べものをしていると次のような小さな文献があるようである。

abstractを見るとこう書いてある。
In the Jahresbericht der Deutschen Mathematiker Vereinigung for 1906, Frege reached the highpoint of his polemic with Johannes Thomae over “formal arithmetic.” Frege wrote: “If one can refute my arguments, fine; otherwise, spare me--,” ending with an unmistakably “ill-tempered” dash. We know what was meant to follow the dash, for Frege's original manuscript survives: “… otherwise, spare me in the future from such rubbish [Bockmist]”! Though he knew the term might well be offensive, Frege went on to explain why he used such dramatic language to describe the work of a colleague: “… but when, despite repeated refutation, and although no attempt has ever been made to refute this refutation, the assailed opinion is disseminated again and again, then one must be permitted to frighten it back into its hiding place with such a word [Bockmist], so that it never again dares to tread into the light.”
すごいというか、ひどいというか、徹底しているというか…。「このクズ! このバカ!」って感じですね。容赦しない人だなFregeさんは。こわい…。学問に徹し過ぎて、それを突き抜け、およそ学問的な文章としてはどうかな？と思わせる地点にまで到ってしまっているようだ。確かに伏せ字にしないとちょっとヤバイかも。
