以上の文献の中で、私にとって一番興味深いのは、一番上に掲げた Whitehead and Russell の“Appendix B”です。これについては記したいことがありますが、可能ならば、またにします。と言っても、ごく初歩的なことを確認のために記すだけです。但し、本当に記すかどうかはわかりません。
下から二番目の The International Directory of Logicians は論理学者の人名事典です。この本は、現在存命中の論理学者を諮問委員会が選定し、その論理学者の専門分野、生年月日、出生地、学歴、博士論文名とその指導教官、現職名、過去の職歴、自身の研究の特徴、主要な業績、journal の編集歴や学会の役員経歴、教育歴、受賞歴を記載し、あわせてその論理学者が論理学の今後をどのように予想するか、今後の論理学に何を期待するかを手短に聞いています。日本人関係者は、ほんのわずかしか掲載されていませんので、世界中の論理学者を網羅しているというものではありません。それでも260名以上が紹介されており、狭いいみでの論理学者のみならず、論理学の哲学を研究されている方や、数学の哲学をされている方、科学哲学をされている方、論理学史をされている方も載っていますので、分析哲学系の人も読める本です。掲載人物の dissertation や、その supervisor を見ていると、「へぇ〜、そうなんだ」という感じの記述もあったりして、何となく楽しいです。まぁ、これら dissertation や supervisor は Mathematics Genealogy Project ですぐに調べられるだろうから、それほど珍しいものではないのでしょうが。
