スターバックスで以下を読む。

この長大なsurveyのうち、初めの三分の一をぐいぐい読む。ものすごく面白い。大変わかりやすく、こまごまと事柄を解剖してくれている。初めの三分の一でWright & HaleのNeo-Fregean Logicismの解説をして、以降は彼らに対する批判の検討を行なっている。実に勉強になった。ひどく面白いものだから、書き込みもせずノートも取らずにずんずん読んでしまったが、今度はぜひ鉛筆を持って読み直したい。これは参考になる。
このMacBride論文の註5に大変興味深い指摘が見られる。実は、Humeの原理から算術が導かれるという指摘を最初に行なったのは、C. Parsonsさんであるとされているが、6月17日の日記でも記したように

の中で述べられていると、語っておられるが、MacBride論文註5に次のような記述が見られる。
[…] Geach noted the possibility that an account of arithmetic might proceed directly from (HP)[=Hume's Principle](rather than a principle governing extensions): ‘We still have to discuss Frege's view that numbers are classesextensions[sic] of concepts. He himself attached only secondary importance to this (Foundation §107); rejection of it would ruin the symbolic structure of his Grundgesetze, but not shake the foundations of arithmetic laid down in the Grundlagen’(see Geach [1951], p. 541; see also Geach [1955], p. 569). (I am grateful to Professor Geach for discussion of these passages.)
