実に不勉強なもので、Lesniewski and Lukasiewicz がAnti-Semites だということを知らないでいた。
不勉強にも程がある。昨日は本当に我が身を嘆いた。
Lesniewski and Lukasiewicz が共にAnti-Semites だということを述べている記述を、以下に引用しておく。

まずはthe Fefermans から。
TarskiさんはPh.D. dissertationを書いた後、集合論の研究へと入って行き、また様々なlogicの研究を行ったが、そんな彼と、集合論が嫌いでしかもlogicもそんなに色々あるわけじゃないと考えていた師匠のLesniewskiとは、価値観を違えて行くことになる。
For Tarski, more traumatic than their intellectual separation was the breakdown of personal relations between him and both Lesniewski and Lukasiewicz. This was due to their increasing anti-Semitism, which reached such a point in the mid-1930s that they would not invite him to sit at their table in their usual café. Understandably, Tarski was hurt and incensed. How ironic this was, since it was they who had advised him to assimilate and change his [Jewish] name [to Polish one for his getting a job]. Kotarbinski, on the other hand, held his place as a hero for his vocal and active opposition to anti-Semitism and for his general humanity.*1
Scottish Caféみたく、彼らはcaféで共に議論し、切磋琢磨していたわけである。しかし指導教官たちから「天才」と絶賛されながら、publicな場では「お呼びじゃない」と、邪険にされたということである。
The University of Warsaw に就職しようとするのなら、名前を変えた方がいいよと親切に助言され、改名が当時のJewishの人たちにもそれなりにある程度肯定的に見られていたので、Tarskiさんも改名に前向きになって、実際に改名したわけだが、その助言してくれた尊敬すべき指導教官たちから、出自を理由に同席を断られたということである。
直属のLesniewskiに断られ、私個人的には好印象を持っているLukasiewiczにも断られたという話は、とてもshockingでした…。
