今日、Edinburgh UP の catalogue を見ていると、logic の dictionary が近刊とある。「そうか、logic の dictionary か。しかしどうなんだろうね。」と思いながら、description をつらつらと読む。あまり logic の dictionary は見かけないし、個人的には重宝できるものに出会ったことがない。目立ったところではかつて Feys and Fitch さんが出しておられたものぐらいだろうか。その本については「ぜひ手元に置いておきたい」とまでは残念ながら感じることはなかった。「じゃあ、あなたが書いてみればいい」と Feys and Fitch さんに言われることがあっても、もちろん私にはできませんが…。
自分が持っている logic の dictionary の類いとしては大分前に Routledge から出た M. Detlefsen et al. の Logic from A to Z ぐらいなのだけど、これも小さくて不自由を感じることが多い。だから今度の dictionary もあまり期待できそうにないなぁと感じながら著者名を見ると Roy Cook さんが執筆されているとのこと。これは驚き。ぜひほしい。期待できるかも。 Cook さんは Neo-Fregeanism/Abstractionism で色々とお仕事されている方である。そのような訳で大変興味深い。本日注文を出しておく。件の dictionary とは以下のものである。
